This report brings together all the sustainability work that is happening in and across all the National Gallery sites. This includes energy, water and waste reduction, low carbon travel, sustainable procurement, biodiversity and engagement with staff and visitors.

NGS successfully reached its 2019/20 carbon reduction target of 42% two years early, prompting an overhaul of the Carbon Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan to scope out more opportunities for carbon savings and create a new target.

NGS has now committed to reducing our carbon footprint by 60% by the end of the financial year of 2021/22 from our 2008/09 baseline – this will mean that we have reduced annual emissions from 3984 tonnes of CO2 equivalent to 1524.

2018/19 was a year of achievements for NGS as they gained the Gold standard of the Green Tourism Award for all three sites; The National Gallery, The Gallery of Modern Art (One & Two) and The Portrait Gallery.

In dissertation this report was used to create a case-study on National Gallery of Scotland.
